Duo Amie

“Ellyses and Julie sound like they have been playing together since birth. Their programs are well thought out and are played with bravura and great sensitivity. Chamber music at it's best!” — Dorothy Travis, Beethoven Society of Melrose.

OUR STORY

When musicians Ellyses Kuan and Julie Reimann met at a classical charity concert in 2012, it sparked a lasting relationship. The pair quickly established a close friendship around their shared passion for music and its potential to bring greater harmony to the world.

The result was Duo Amie, and a mission to champion inspiration and diversity through music, community, collaboration, and celebration. The pair regularly perform across Massachusetts and beyond, often in support of a range of local and international charities. Equally at home in diverse venues, from concert halls to hotels, corporate settings, and living rooms, the duo can present both full length concert programs as well as programmatic music for weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions.

Both classically trained, pianist Ellyses (Eastman School of Music) and cellist Julie (Curtis Institute of Music), formed the duo in 2015 and the pair have been richly praised for their virtuosity, expressivity, and engaging presence. Duo Amie has a strong reputation for themed programs, which seek to stimulate audiences with performances that combine both auditory and visual elements. Their repertoire is diverse, and both musicians delight in exploring both classical, contemporary, and popular music forms.

For their full-length concerts, they typically choose a theme that unifies the various pieces they play. This is established by a narrative, written by the pair, which is spoken as part of the performance. As a backdrop throughout the event, they often display works of art that reflect the unifying theme.

OUR MISSION

Duo Amie, a Boston Massachusetts based cello and piano duo dedicated to inspiring and bringing diverse people together with musical programs that capture the imagination through musical expression and visual thematic elements, and to supporting the mission of non profits by organizing and performing benefit concerts.
